Flowers, flowers everywhere

Dedicated gardeners work all year round to prepare Toowoomba Australia for this magnificent event. You’ll be amazed at the sheer volume of floral displays and spectacular Toowoomba gardens on show. "As the focal point for the Carnival of Flowers these gardens were stunning and bursting with colour. I have never seen so many flowers in one park in my life. I have been here before and the gardens are always worth a visit. These massive park lands sit in the heart of Toowoomba and are among the best I have ever seen." Damien S, Trip Advisor Admire the prize-winning gardens and enjoy the guided tours. Be sure to plan your itinerary before you arrive, so you don’t miss a thing.

Grand Central Floral Parade

The highlight of the Toowoomba flower festival is the Grand Central Floral Parade. Each year, around 100,000 flower fans line the main streets of Toowoomba to witness a spectacular display of colour. Stunning floral floats, street performers and stilt walkers weave their way through the city to the picturesque Queens Park. The beautifully-displayed flowers and fresh local produce from the floats are available for sale after the parade if you get in quick.

History of the iconic Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers

Now in its 68th year, the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers is the longest-running horticultural event in Australia. The carnival was dreamt up in 1949 to boost Toowoomba Queensland’s Garden City reputation and economic activity following the war. The first Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers was held in 1950 with a street procession three miles long. The carnival has well and truly blossomed since its post-war days, with visitors flocking from interstate and overseas to enjoy the festival of flowers in Toowoomba.
