The Cunnamulla Fella Centre Art Gallery and Museum is a popular tourist attraction in Cunnamulla. Built around 1850, the original Cunnamulla Customs House served as a customs point where taxes for goods crossing the Queensland-New South Wales border were collected. The charming three-bedroom cottage now serves as a museum, having been lovingly restored and surrounded by lovely cottage gardens. The museum is a step back in time, with everything from antique typewriters and cash registers, to steam engines, primitive washing machines, and federation-style clothes.
The Unique Egg is St George’s most famous un-egg-spected attraction. You won’t find painted emu egg carvings like these anywhere else on the planet. For more than 60 years, Steve Margaritis has been carving emu eggs by hand. At The Unique Egg, this talented man’s carved and painted emu eggs are on show and for sale.
