Biloela is the indigenous word for the noisy, sometimes destructive, but always beautiful white cockatoo. It is not unusual to see a flock of these birds in flight almost daily in the town. Originally established as a railway town in the early 1920’s and became the commercial hub of the Banana Shire as early settlers. Originally graziers settled in the region and then later settlers of farming grain, cotton, dairying and piggeries.
Biloela is a bustling town with many attractive features like the Biloela Civic Centre, the Regional Art Gallery located in the new Shire Administration Centre supports local and visiting artists with new exhibitions being displayed regularly.
Biloela was once described as the Mouse that Roared. So much of what it has to offer is worthy of a much larger town. Still it is an ambitious place; planning to grow the community and it has the space to do just that with hectares of land zoned future urban, developed and green field industrial land waiting for new industry.
